How to become an on-site volunteer

  1. Submit a volunteer application through LAUSD.  Volunteer applications can be accessed here: https://volunteerapp.lausd.net.  If you don’t already have one, you will need to create an LAUSD parent portal account, here is a quick guide on how to register.

  2. Fill out the volunteer application and select the volunteer area in which you would like to volunteer. You will also have the option to select a volunteer tier. Generally, most people choose:

    • Tier II volunteers include classroom, campus, office, and field trip volunteers, as well as room parents and family center volunteers.  Requirements for this tier include California Megan’s Law website clearance (completed by the school) and TB clearance.

    • Tier III volunteers include one-on-one tutoring volunteers, cafeteria volunteers, and overnight field trip volunteers.  Requirements for this tier include California Megan’s Law website clearance (completed by the school), TB clearance, and Live Scan fingerprint clearance.

Note: In the past, overnight field trips have only been available for Clifford students in upper grades (4th & 5th)

  3. Remember to click on the LAUSD Volunteer Commitment form at the end of the application form, otherwise the system won’t allow you to submit the application.

  4. Once the online volunteer application is completed and submitted electronically, it will remain “pending” until approved by the principal.

  5. You will need to email the school with proof of tuberculosis clearance. You can email Ms. Puentes the filled out Tuberculosis Physician Clinic Form or a copy of your TB test results.

Note: If you do not have a healthcare provider or insurance, you can go to the nearest Public Health Immunization Clinic.

  6. Once the application is approved, you will receive an approval letter and temporary badge via email from the Office of Student, Family, and Community Engagement. You may log into your Volunteer Management System account to monitor the progress of your application. Your application has been approved when the status changes from "Pending" to "Approved".

  7. Once approved you can email your student’s teacher via email or ClassDojo and ask if they need help in their classroom.  To volunteer in the parent center you can contact  Mrs. Perez via ClassDojo or in-person.

Please refer to the 2026-2027 Guide to Volunteering in Los Angeles Unified for additional details.

Current Opportunities

Panda Store

The Panda Paw Store gives students the opportunity to redeem the Panda Paws they’ve earned for showing good behavior, participating, and demonstrating Panda PRIDE! It's such a joy to watch students redeem their Panda Paws, and volunteering is also a wonderful way to connect with other parents.

As a volunteer, you will help set-up prizes on the designated lunch pavilion tables and assist students as they count and redeem their Panda Paws. Please remember to check-in at the front office at the start of your shift.
